I have been teaching in the Morongo Unified School district since 1988 and have taught a wide range of subjects, but my favorite class has always been English.  This year, I am teaching English, guidance, home economics and art and enjoy each class.

In English my goals are that the students will be developing writing skills by writing essays and paragraphs; working on letters, applications, and resumes; keeping journals; and writing analyses of literature and nonfiction.  Reading skills will be improved through reading different types of literature both individually and as a group.  To facilitate that, all students must complete at least one chapter out of the literature books.  We will also work on reading and comprehension skills during directed lessons in class and in homeroom.

As homework, students should be completing essays, literature chapters, and senior portfolios.  Once a student has turn in a literature chapter, s/he may be assigned a novel, workbook, or research project to complete as well.

I welcome interaction with parents and guardians and hope you will contact me if you have any questions or concerns at jhill@morongousd.com or (760) 369-6310.
